Date of Event : Wed Feb 28, 2018 12:38PM

The finals series starts for four of the seven age groups this weekend.

Details on the under 10s, under 11s, under 12s and under 13's finals are now locked in and available in the fixtures.

Here is also some important information about the finals series.

Finals Eligibility

All teams who are playing in the finals must have all the player stats entered in order to participate. If there are any issues please notify your club.

Running Time for SEJCA Matches

The committee has observed a number of games running substantially over time, which is concerning. It impacts following games as well unduly extends the substantial commitment families already make to cricket. The rules require teams to maintain over rate and stipulate that game must finish within 15 minutes of the designated time (see rule 11).

Please advise your teams that they must comply with rule 11, including maintaining over rates, and that rule 11 will be enforced by the match committee with repeat offenders being dealt with most harshly.

Rules Queried

SEJCA has received several emails to clarify rules ahead of the finals: Here is a summary of the information pass on to those clubs/teams:

  • The u11’s & u12’s batting order rotation rule does not apply throughout the finals.
  • For u10, u11 and u12 age groups, the restrictions on player numbers, number of batters, number of bowlers and bowling restrictions will apply as per the published rules subject to the comments below in respect of 10th and 12th man.  This means, for example that for u12’s, if you play 11, ten may bat,  11 must bowl with a max of three overs each, and only ten may be on the field at any one time.
  • A 12th person may be listed in the team for u11 and u12 finals provided the 12th man is identified in advance to the opposing coach and umpire and they do not bat, bowl or wicket keep. The 12th man may field subject to the maximum number of fielders allowed on the field not being exceeded. For u10s, a 10th man may be added subject to the same restrictions applying in respect of a 12th man for u11s and u12s.
  • The u12’s, if playing 11, the wicketkeeper must change after 15 overs.

Enjoy and please play in the spirit of the game.
