2018 Representative Trial and Selection Information
Date of Event : Tue Mar 13, 2018 11:33PM

The 2018 SEJCA Representative trials begin this week. Here is important information about the rep trials, selection process, and the season ahead.

South Eastern Junior Cricket Association enters teams from the Under 11 Creak  Shield to Under 16 Watson Shield in the NSWDCA competition played over seven Sundays in Oct / Nov / Dec each season.

Dates for the season are TBA. There will be minimum of  2 TRIAL representative games in September. Final teams will be announced after these trial games.

Representative cricket is generally played in a wide area of Sydney and travel may be from between ACT to Newcastle.

U11 Creak are 40 overs, U12 Cawsey & U13 Gee , U14 Moore, U15 Weblin and U16 Watson are 50 overs per innings.

In rep cricket players must play in their correct age group. This is determined by the age of the player at 31 August; i.e. a player 10 years old at 31 Aug will play under 11.

This level of cricket offers a step up for capable players and is a great deal more demanding than club cricket.

Representative Trials

The SEJCA Representative Selection process involves the creation of a training squad of players per age group which will then train through to the commencement of the rep season. This squad will be reduced to a 12 man match squad prior to the competition dates.

In general

  • All players who participated in the SEJCA club competition in season 17/18 and will do so in 18/19 are eligible to trial. If injury prevents trial please contact the coach/trial organiser. Players who move into the area after trials and will play in the SEJCA comp can also trial at a later date.
  • No rep clothing from previous years or any other rep clothing (CIS, NSW Cricket Academy / Emerging Blues, PSSA etc) may be worn at squad trials. Cricket whites or club cricket shirts only.
  • Parents are NOT PERMITTED to attend trials. Drop off only.
  • The  selected squads will commence training at the coach’s discretion. It is compulsory to attend these training sessions. These sessions are offered to develop skills and keep players involved in the game. They are generally not more than once a week.
  • Selection of rep players is an annual process. Last year’s players are not automatically included in teams.
  • Selection is based upon a combination of club statistics, performances at trials, attitude, balance of the team, prior rep performances (if applicable) and is at the complete discretion of the coach and SEJCA appointed independent selectors, overseen and finally endorsed by the SEJCA Management Committee.

Registration Fees

Registration fees for SEJCA 2018/19 rep season are TBC ($350-370). This fee will be payable before the competition commences and once the final teams have been selected. The fee is payable to cover the costs of training facilities, umpires, and other associated costs of this competition. There is provision for this levy to be paid by SEJCA in cases of genuine hardship.

Players and parents/guardians are assumed to have read through the SEJCA Code of Conduct posted at www.sejca.com.au and are expected to observe this code and display appropriate respect for all volunteers, officials and other players at all times.
